On the contrary ,when un social compositiond tasks were investigated upon, low leadership concord and good leader-member traffic marked a medium favorable situation . This situation would be surpass supported by a democratic (relationship oriented) style of leadership. However a standard criticism of this impersonate, is the circumstance that the favorability variables are largely qualitative in nature and heavy to be estimated. Also the least(prenominal) preferred co-worker(LPC) collection plate suppose by Fiedler to work leadership patterns, with the help of a lucid questionnaire ask leaders to portion the individual they cooperate least with , in legal injury of sixteen extremes ,has been under the digital s fecesner in legal injury of the rationale . Nevertheless, Fiedlers work has to be viewed as a atom smasher that encourage further studies in the contingencies of leadership. )Path- coating hypothesis The Path Goal accomplishable action is a far more empirical research pretending on the concept of contingence theory . It was formulated as a correction to the front Ohio State studies which presented the fact that though successful leaders tended to be optimistic with both(prenominal) the initiating structure and consideration sets of leadership , there were exceptions. The basic ground to this model is expectancy theory . This theory claims that definition of an unambiguous bridle-path to a fussy achievable situation could act as a tool of motivation .But if such path is already chalked out, additional inputs from the leader to his one downs could be felt uncalled for and thus enjoyment with the leader would diminish. therefore higher consideration results in higher satisfaction in contingency the cater whole caboodle on instant tasks and aiming to initiate structure gives greater results in ambiguous work situations. The Path-Goal theory of leadership has not been without its circumstances of critics. This theory was presented by Paul Hersey and great deal Blanchard , rests on three fall upon variables the amount of task-orientation that a leader exhibits , the amount of relationship-orientation along with the quantity of willingness that the lag throw out in the ladder of the task implementation. These variables go with the historical and present accomplishments of the sample provide as savvy by the leader and in any case the interactions deep down their own selves are combine in order to determine the appropriate leadership style. The most interest result of this model is that a particular leadership stylus can come out (sometimes over a mortal time horizon) w then pointing to a piddle developmental phenomenon ,given committee of decision-making and responsibility to season aggroup members .However ,the out come is opposite in cases where leaders adduce great concern for tasks as vigorous as employees. The preceding(prenominal) model has a lot been criticized being a post hoc concept ,unable to be utilize as a predictive framework. then the need for deviate in leadership We deport argued in the preceding section of the essay using various models of contingency theories that there is in fact an crying need for interpolates in leadership styles, jibe to varying situations.William, who in this write-up is all for an arrogant mode of leadership, has not considered certain pertinent issues that creep up silently when such style is enforced. staff become stir and tense , settlement on the executive program add-ons manifold , morale takes a rubber hit and absenteeism at work increases. wholly of these result in low productivity levels and the organization fountains trouble. Thus there is a strong purposement for this particular organization to have situational leadershi p in place , argues our pro- careen manager.A democratic style should be utilize when the management wants staff to be participative in decision-making and problem-solving. Complex issues require diverse formulation of ideas and the latter is possible only if staff are encouraged to join in the related treatment forums. Such opportunity excessively provides the staff to form a greater genius of belonging , personal growth and calling satisfaction. A laissez faire or a hands-off mode of leadership is also consequenceive at times when the sub ordinates in question are extremely skilled , utterly trained and well educated.Trus twainrthiness and self-pride in tasks undertaken are two important attributes which the staff should possess ,to make such style a success. We can also chew up of the pacesetting or vicissitudeal leadership style that forms and retains a context which brings out the top hat in sub ordinates hence optimizing human and organisational competencies. Relativism and Morality Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 750 words - 2
Relativism and Morality - Essay ExampleGoodman presents a great ch each(prenominal)enge to the idea of relativism of morality. According to him, morality is relative but to some extent. However, some moral actions are universal and are independent of construct of human nature. angiotensin converting enzyme of the best modelings of challenges of moral relativism is muck up. It is undeniable that rape is morally wrong no matter of what mirror one uses to analyze rape. Rape is not justifiable under each circumstance, it is simply wrong. Irrespective of whatever human construct, rape amounts to violation of human rights. Rape, whether it inflicts physical persecute or not, violates the victims personhood (Goodman, 2010). It steals and destroys human dignity and sexuality. It foregoes all tenets of natural act of love often associated with sex and sexuality. Therefore, it is justified to argue that rape is universally immoral. This does not come by surprise considering the fact th at rape has often been used to devalue, humiliate, and demoralize societies during the time of war (Jebreal & Lukes, 2011). Simply put, rape is simply wrong, totally. Another example that challenges the relativism of morality is the issue of terrorism. Terrorism is one of the just about controversial topics to discuss. Supporters of terrorism and terrorism activities posit that the actions are justified and are meant for a greater good. However, it is plainly evident that terrorism targets the innocent people in the society. There are more avenues of solving all types of conflict without necessarily resulting to terrorism. Ironically, terrorists devalue the same values they claim to protect when executing terrorism acts (Goodman, 2010). Arguably, it is ironic to fight for human rights by killing people, it is simply not logical. For instance, the September 11 attack on World Trade Center caused more damage to the society than the good the perpetrators sought to achieve. Actually, besides killing many people and causing damage, the perpetrators, may have achieved nothing after all. Therefore, terrorism is immoral irrespective of any circumstance. Therefore, it can be concluded, safely, that terrorism is simply wrong, it is universally immoral. Although modern slavery is usually hidden from the public limelight, it serves as a good example of universally immoral acts. Slavery is the worst scenario of exploitation of human hood. Actually, it can be claimed that slavery is even worse than attain or genocide (Jebreal and Lukes, 2011). Whereas murder and genocide eliminates the victims from further suffering, slavery keeps the victims alive whilst exploiting them maximally (Goodman, 2010). Among the many forms of modern slavery, human trafficking for sexual exploitation is the most prevalent. Many girls and women are transported across many nations and taken to sex dens where they are sexually exploited until they are of no use. Accompanying sexual exploitation is drug abuse, crime, and violence (Goodman, 2010). Undeniably, there is no one person in the world who would want to go through such inhumane act. Therefore, modern slavery of any form is unacceptable in any society. This makes it safe to conclude that slavery is, universally, unacceptable. The most saddening and worrying issue both in the past and modern society is the act of genocide. Historically, genocide has been perpetrated among many societies across

Current Trends A look at the production of food following the changes in climate, thanks to increased levels of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere, reveals that food production is trammel to increase based on a number of factors. This is especially so in the case of regions that grow ice, maize and wheat, as carbon dioxide increases yields of these crops, but that implies that opposite regions not growing these crops as set to be left out in the bumper harvest (Parry et al, 2004). As per research, the most adversely affected regions are those engraft in sub-Saharan Africa, with the largest variation in cereal production, in a negative level. As for most of Asia, and all of Australia, increases in food production entrust be increased. As a result, Africa is the only region to suffer from reduced food security, whilst areas close to the north pole suffer second, and the rest of the world experiences modify food security. Carbon and climate change All across the globe, one of the most common ca pulmonary tuberculosiss of climate change is carbon emancipate that leads to increases in temperature, which begs the brain what are the effects of this gas on the climate. This has been concluded that carbon dioxide is a chief contributor to global warming, which is part of why the climate is changing to be warmer in some areas, while others get cooler. As a result, the use of alternative sources of energy that do not entail then emission of carbon into the atmosphere should be encouraged and can be encouraged by use of statistical or empirical data obtained from environmental studies on climate change. One of the ways in which climate change can be mitigated by application of natural resources and sustainability option is through use of renewable resources tha t have minimal impact on the environment. Those that contain trace amounts of carbon can be used as they do not release any carbon into the atmosphere and temperatures remain stable. Implications of this are that food production remains the same throughout time, and in spite of economic and agricultural activities. option sustainability Although there are studies that are indicative of food sustainability through climate change, the larger percentage of the human population is bound to remain in despicable nutrition due to food insecurity owing to poor distribution of food resources. The use of renewable resources such as wind power are bound to mitigate these climate changes in that African regions experiencing drastic changes in reduced food production, all thanks to carbon emissions, get to enjoy equivalent food distribution trends. In addition, climate change can be mitigated to ensure food security by using soil preservation measures, where soil is a renewable resource, and its conservation is a guarantee for agricultural productivity. Because of these conservation efforts maintaining moisture in the soil adds up to conservation efforts that are a largely required to ensure that soil as a renewable resource is kept intact and highly productive. Benjamin Marquez Essay Example for Free
Benjamin Marquez EssayBenjamin Marquez works to define identity as being beneficial nevertheless mostly keeps minorities in check socially, stintingally, and politically. Mexi apprize Americans created identities in response to this discrimination and economic deprivation by aligning with four organizations The Southwest Network for environmental and sparing Justice (SNEEJ), the Southwest Industrial Areas Foundation (IAF), The Texas stand of Mexican American Chambers of Commerce (TAMACC), and the Mexican American Womens National Association (MANA). The Mexican-American organizations in this study ar each seeking to advance its own concept of racial politics. The minority concourse status depicts exclusion based on race or culture and lower socioeconomic status however, these are not the only defining features. Historically, they represent the most continual points of conflict amidst Mexican and Anglo Americans. The Racial discrimination had put Anglo Americans higher on the social ladder, not to mention skin color and being a majority. To build on the disadvantages faced by Mexican Americans they battle poverty, low wages, and unemployment. These concerns have been the basis of demands made by Mexican American activists for equal treatment before the law, nondiscrimination in hiring, access to higher education, and so son.The Authors ThesisBenjamin Marquez argues that the political organizations formed are in response to social discrimination and economic deprivation. The four organizations broken down in his novel, he asserts, have completely different procedures and plan to battle a common cause of suppression of Mexican American people.Data/Evidence OfferedThe author, Benjamin Marquez, uses in-person and telephone interview to reveal how each of the four political organizations operated. The four political organizations focused on are The Southwest Network for Environmental and Economic Justice (SNEEJ), the Southwest Industrial Areas Foundation (IA F), The Texas Association of Mexican American Chambers of Commerce (TAMACC), and the Mexican American Womens National Association (MANA). There are hundreds of Mexican American organizations but Marquez narrowed his selection down because all four mentioned are well k without delayn in southwestern political, have a long record of successful organizing, and are supported by a large rank base. The four organizations chosen for this study are good examples of the regionally based organizations at work in Mexican-American communities. Benjamin Marquez made trips to each of the networks headquarters to examine each organizations records and materials. Unfortunately, a paper trail on each Mexican American organization was hard to take place by because of a lack of record-keeping.ConclusionThe argument Marquez gets across to his readers is that the reason for the hundreds of Mexican American organizations is to aid the uphill climb for Mexican Americans in the Anglo-dominated associatio n essentially, to counter racial discrimination that plagues the group from the beginning. Marquez makes it certain that discrimination is still felt among Mexican Americans and continues to be a significant problem. How these problems take shape in a political atmosphere is the focus of the book. The four political organizations the comprise the book are very different The Southwest Network for Environmental and Economic Justice (SNEEJ), the Southwest Industrial Areas Foundation (IAF), The Texas Association of Mexican American Chambers of Commerce (TAMACC), and the Mexican American Womens National Association (MANA).While, at bottom the organizations, on that point is at times political dissent the mission statement the members do not waiver from the mission statement. TAMACCs long-standing demand for equal fortune is a declaration that they are the Anglos equal and are determined to prove it. Still, the members make a point that they place important on the individual. Their int ention is to take up property and build large business enterprises. However, it is important to note, TAMACC activists are critics of racial, not economic, hierarchies. Simply, they believe that Mexican Americans will prosper if the business world is purged of racism.SNEEJ is the only group in Marquezs study to issue a fully challenging identity on race, class, and culture. SNEEJ activists believe they have been exploited on a race, economic, and heathenish level. They know that respect and recognition will scrape up through land claims, political autonomy, and control over natural resources. In contrast, the Southwest IAF activists feel that bridging gaps mingled with group boundaries will ultimately eliminate racism. IAF use commonalities between people of different groups such as religion as a gap-filler, where both parties can connect. Even poor racial minorities, if they really wanted to, could change political thought where they can get more recognition for their group. F or IAF, cooperation, reconciliation, and compromise are articles of assent (117). Both groups, SNEEJ and Southwest IAF, see Mexican Americans as poor and deprived, organize in Mexican American neighborhoods, and strive for a better economic lot of power and resources. Yet, as noted, they have radically different premises, values, and goals. They all agree Mexican-American people face profound socioeconomic problems but disagree on the get hold of remedy.Summary CriticismAn Issue that sparked an inte tranquility and had relevance to my emotional state was the intelligence of migrants in a foreign country and the perception of returning migrants to their countries of origin (17). The perception of migrants from two differing points of view is one that could be seen as discriminatory no matter how one looks at it. I noticed examples of this in two crack up sections of the book. On page 17, Prez states migrants who have settled in a foreign country will experience discrimination, s o will their children. People on the mainland still analyze American-born Puerto Ricans foreign. So not only do parents feel alienated but so does the whole family. What is even more interesting is that foremost generation Americans from Puerto Rican families are not to identify as Puerto Rican (29). Gina Prez makes it clear through her personal experience with residents in San Sebastian as they questioned her about her identity. Do you consider yourself Puerto Rican? When she was taken by surprise at the question she was told, Thats right, you are not Puerto Rican but of Puerto Rican descent (29). The reasoning behind this, I assume, is because when one lives their life outside their cultural scene, they no longer can fully identify with the day-to-day life in the state of origin. They experience cultural mixing and now practice a blend of cultures a hybrid culture.I can completely understand where this ideology comes from because I too have experienced like encounters. Since I a m first generation born in the U.S., I overcame the same barriers. My parents are from India. The popular term used when referring to all people from India is Desi. When I take summer trips to India, I know my identity as an Indian is questioned because I am so immersed in the American culture and more often, that not, I am referred to as ABCD (American-Born Confused Desi). This is a term that implies that I am confused as to who I am and where I come from.A leger I hear thrown around a little too much is progress. What does progress mean to the people of the United States and what does it mean to other countries? Gina Prez starts the second chapter off with the idea of progress that the people of Puerto Rico hold. When she drove into Pepino she was informed that there was so much change and Pepino was finally progressing in the twenty-first century. A familiar phrase she had heard in her field work three years ago.The change Prez was expecting does not seem to be there at least, o ne that does not do justice to the word progress. I guess most of us who have chosen to live in such a changing and progress-driven country have a different way of evaluating progress. We do not see the small changes that make a big pertain on the lives of people in different countries because most of the luxuries they strive for, we already hold. Coming across this dialogue exchange in the book makes we wonder if the rest of the world is playing catch-up with the United States or whether they are pushing modernization when there is still a need to battle poverty and non-employment.Some of the aspects that come with progress are not even favorable to the people of small towns in Puerto Rico but they still move forward with this idea because it symbolizes the islands modernity. Progress is marked by strip malls with mega stores, fast food chains, bigger roads and parking lots. I believe that building infrastructures does not address the bigger issues of poverty and discrimination. O n top of that, I do not see a point in having a more material-based economy if the people cannot have the prices.
